Profile

Nnaemeka Oruh is a Nigerian writer, social-justice advocate, and climate-policy strategist whose career bridges creative expression and legislative engagement. A graduate of English from the University of Port Harcourt, he gained recognition for his incisive political essays and his poetry collection In Memoriam of a Modest Shame (2018), which critiques social injustice, youth disenfranchisement, and gender inequality in Nigeria.

He later transitioned into environmental governance, serving as National Coordinator of GLOBE Nigeria, Focal Point Lead for GLOBE Legislators who serve as the Focal Point of the UNFCCC Parliamentary Group, and Senior Policy Analyst at Society for Planet and Prosperity.

Oruh served as the Secretary of the Committee for the draft of Nigeria’s Climate Change Act which was set up by then House of Representatives Speaker, Rt. Hon Femi Gbajabiamila. In this role, he contributed to the drafting of Nigeria’s Climate Change Act, thereby positioning himself at the intersection of civil society advocacy, climate legislation, and sustainable-development policy.

Nnaemeka Oruh is also a Research Fellow of the Centre for Climate Change and Development, Alex Ekwueme Federal University.
