Chukwuemeka Emenekwe is a Development Economist (with specialization in Environmental and Resource Economics). He is an academic staff of the Department of Economics and Development Studies, Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State, Nigeria. He is also a member of the Nigerian Economic Society (NES).
He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the Imo State University Owerri, Nigeria, and a master’s degree in development economics and international studies from the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany. His research interest includes sustainable development, climate change adaptation and mitigation, green growth, renewable energy, carbon pricing, micro-econometric evaluation, household welfare and rural development.
Chukwuemeka was a Research Assistant to the Consultant developing a Climate Change Adaptation Guidance Manual for the Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project (NEWMAP) – a World Bank-assisted project. He was a Consultant for the Ebonyi State Climate Policy for the energy and transport sectors. He is leading a French Embassy in Nigeria-sponsored project to develop a weather index reference value of maize and soybean farmers in Oyo State, Nigeria. Currently, he is a Research Fellow in Long-Term Energy Modelling/Scenarios on the Deep Decarbonization Pathways in Nigeria (DDP-Nigeria) Project.
Working in these projects have given him the opportunity of networking with different stakeholders and enhancing his experience in research and project management.
Chukwuemeka Emenekwe is married with children.
